Shopping for vintage is always an interesting journey.
There are some places that I always know I can find good stuff at, and then there are other places that I've tried once, and haven't gone back.
I try to give those spots a second chance somewhere down the road, and usually I am pleasantly surprised!
It was a really interesting piece, and as soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to take it home.
It was from a newish shop that I'd gone to before, but hadn't really seen much that particularly interested me.
Some days you feel like you hit the jack pot.
Besides the chest, I also scored two large jars of buttons and a vintage chocolate tin.
This is a solid piece, and in really good shape.
I've used the paint a few times now on several different finishes, and am really starting to pick up on how the paint will react to the surface.
I love furniture that has been stained and poly'd- it really gives a great chippy finish without much prep!
The pulls that came with it weren't too bad- I know not everyone loves these, but to me they remind me of Hansel and Gretl- kind of Old World storybook.
I left these two on the small drawers on top:

When I was at the shop yesterday, I spotted some new hardware and I knew these would be a great addition to the over all look.
I also lined the drawers with paper:
It's has a nice low profile, and I'm hoping someone will love the character of this piece as much as I do!

On a related note, if you follow my Instagram feed, or Facebook page, you know that over the weekend, I moved into a new space at Aunt Bee's House!
I'm super excited about it.
I am just to the right of the main entrance, in a newly remodeled area of the shop.
It's a nice bright spot with lots of great light.
There are more vendors still moving in over the next couple weeks- I hope if you're in the area, you will stop in and check it out.

Great find! I love how the typewriter paint looks on it. A nice charcoal color. I agree about hitting some places that just suck the first time around. I also give it another go and then get lucky. It can be hit or miss!
That is a gorgeous piece-I love the colour!
Good luck with your move!
Best wishes,
